Mehdi Ghadyanloo’s Playful Street Art in Tehran

May 7, 2014 0 comments

Iranian artist and designer Mehdi Ghadyanloo, with the help of the municipality, is slowly brightening up the city of Tehran one wall at a time. The 33-year old street artist has been painting murals and walls in Tehran for the last 5 years age, during which he’s reported to have painted over one hundred walls.

Like most growing cities, Tehran is an architectural mishmash with buildings often having only one facade and the other three just left blank and grey. This doesn’t make for a beautiful city but it is a great environment for mural work. Some 8 years ago, the municipality set up a committee to help promote mural art in Tehran. Now artists like Mehdi Ghadyanloo are financed by the municipality to decorate the enormous facades of building with beautiful works of art.
