Creative Mom Uses Sleeping Baby to Create Adorable Photos

Dec 16, 2013 3 comments

California-based artist, photographer and mother of three, Queenie Liao, uses the precious moments when her youngest son sleeps to create magical, fairy tale-inspired dream world. Drawing inspiration from famous child photographer Anne Geddes and Adele Enersen who published a book of similar photographs, Ms Liao decided to turn her photography hobby toward her son Wengenn.

The artist told BoredPanda.org: “Everyday just before Wengenn’s nap, I would imagine him being the main character in one of my favourite episodes and “paint” a background setting with plain clothes, stuffed animals, and other common household materials, just like how an artist would with her paint brushes”

“After Wengenn fell asleep, I would place him at the centre of the theme I’d created and start taking pictures.”

“I tried not to disturb him once he fell asleep,” she added. “Even though Wengenn is a good sleeper, he still woke up from time to time.”

The photos were taken in 2010, but Liao saw a recent boost of interest as the adorable photographs went viral. With a collection of more than one hundred photographs, Liao published a book in Chinese in Taiwan last year titled ‘Sleepy Baby’.

  3. Great Blog! All pictures are creative and innovative. I don’t have words to explain how amazed I am with these photographs. It’s a pleasure to see such pictures. It’s really difficult to click such images, you have to dressed your baby accordingly and have to be sure it keep the same (No poop or pee) before you click. The most difficult task is to arrange all things around in a proper way without disturbing your baby.
