Update: Read the real story behind the Tunnel of Love.
I've seen similar tunnels on logging roads where I live near Portland, Oregon. The trees are cut/cleared to make way for the roads, and branches are cut back to keep it clear. Gradually, the tree branches grow over the road/track forming this emerald tunnel. Think of a tree-lined street. The only difference is that the vegetation is less dense on a city street. When a road/track is cut through a forest, these tunnels are formed naturally.
ReplyDeleteThis beautiful train track is naturally covered by green trees and makes a tunnel. Located in Kleven, Ukraine, this train tunnel is named as” “Tunnel of Love” by local people. These incredible photos were taken by Oleg Gordienko
ReplyDeleteone thing I can tell you about this is that the crooked tracks ensure this a slow, bouncy journey for train travellers, and this 'tunnel of love' is used rather infrequently.
ReplyDeleteif you thought the Night Garden's Ninky Nonk train was fictional, just ride this track to the end...
ReplyDelete"slow, bouncy journey" - if it is about love - I like it that way :)
ReplyDeletewith my tongue
DeleteThe name is misspelled, it is Klevan. Klevan is a village about 25 km NW of the city of Rivne. It was part of Poland between WWI and WWII. This is an industrial track (apparently for a steel mill) and won't show on any map view, satellite is needed (I used Bing). Coordinates are 50.750726,26.045555, where the straightaway begins.
ReplyDeleteHere in the USA this type of track would be classed by the Federal RR Administration as Excepted Track (10 mph max, no passenger trains).
thanks! I searched for ages until I saw your comment!

ReplyDeleteAre you sure some of that "train track" is not made of bamboo?
ReplyDeletewow such a beautiful place !
ReplyDeleteone day i will visit this place :)
Wow! amazing, one of the beautiful places I've ever seen, but I would like to know more about this place.
ReplyDeletefor example how long is it?
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are amazing. I have a friend from near Kleven and she has never heard or seen this before. Must be like was said, just a siding for the steel mill.
ReplyDeletethe tunnel of love
ReplyDeleteThe train on this track passes every day. Commercial train would bring a wood logs to the near wood factory. Track is 3km long. The locals already knows about it, because there is a lot of tourists are coming there now from all over Ukraine and POland, starting from late May till October. I am from that area myself. Welcome everybody to the town of Klevan. Come to the train station of Klevan' where the actual track starts. More photos on internet.

ReplyDeleteAmazing..
ReplyDeleteI want to go there
ReplyDeleteHere's a bit more info: http://theadventourist.com/travel/cool-travel-destinations/klevens-tunnel-of-love/
ReplyDeleteIt was done by a train carrying wood every day for years. So the plants and trees got as close to the train as they could, and now it just looks spectacular.
There's no public train through there, but then again, if you were on the train you wouldn't see the magnificent view out of a SIDE window anyways...
Thats amazing beautiful. Can i Drive their with a train from Moskau?
ReplyDeleteIs it not difficult to maintain such a beautiful place inthe same shape. Dr.Gyaneshwar India
ReplyDeleteNo, it's rather easy, since done by the train itself. Guessing from the track condition I think theres at least 2 daily trains going thru. Each time ripping of new leaves :)
DeleteI wish I could go there
ReplyDeleteDon't wish it, do it!
DeleteI envy that couple walking down the tunnel.
ReplyDeleteAre you going to sell any of these as prints?
ReplyDeleteSo i can walk down this tunnel without worry of a train coming right?
ReplyDeleteNaturally shaped by a passing train, the Tunnel of Love sits on old train tracks and is made entirely by intertwined trees. It's said that crossing the tunnel while holding your lover's hand will make all of your wishes come true.
ReplyDeleteSo can I walk over it without dying because of a train coming? I would love to go there but I really need to be sure that it is like safe to walk over it! So any answers?
ReplyDeletei love how most comments are from the typical "let me show you how much i know"
ReplyDeleteThe name is misspelled, it is Klevan. This beautiful train track is naturally covered by green trees.
