French graphic designers Thomas Weil and Quentin Weisbuch have been making outrageous burgers for the last two years. What started as a random lunch project one afternoon slowly evolved into the website Fat & Furious Burger, culminating in a cookbook released earlier this year with no less than 60 recipes. Yet, neither of them are chefs.
It started one afternoon during a lunch break while working at a design agency in Paris. Fed up with the endless parade of unimaginative sandwiches for lunch, the two decided to spice things up. They decided to make burgers. They were no rules, only they had to be edible. Because lunch break was long, Weil and Weisbuch found plenty of time to experiment that included coming up with an idea, running to the store, and cooking the burger. Using their office kitchen as the playground, the designer duo came with some of the craziest designs.
The pair are inspired by practically anything, including everyday headlines and recent events. Their wacky lunches don’t always come cheap however. While some of their creations cost around six euros, they’ve spent upwards of 50 euros for a single burger. As for their taste, it’s a hit or miss.
“Sometimes it’s a great surprise, and sometimes kind of a fail,” they said.
