Hattie Newman is a London-based designer and image maker who combines both two and three dimensional design elements to create fascinating worlds using paper and card. As a child, Hattie was obsessed with drawing towns and villages, making cities out of LEGO, and wanted to be an architect. When studying at the University of West England, in Bristol, she started using paper and card because she was interested in bringing her 2D illustrations to life physically. She found paper and card was the cheapest way to do this. She initially experimented with stop-motion animation which led her to make 3D puppets and sets out of paper and cardboard.
After graduating in 2008, she moved to London to start work with a studio that creates exciting sets and window displays. Six months later, after saving up enough money, she set up her own studio in Stoke Newington. Hattie Newman, a first class degree holder in Illustration, now works for clients including Royal Mail, Cadbury, Sony, Louis Vuitton, NSPCC, Honda, GAP, Conde Nast, GQ, The Times and more.
